Towards Spirituality for 21st Century UK

Why would anyone want to move the UK towards spirituality? Did we not get enough of it during the dark ages? Do we really want to go back to religion? What is wrong with our current path? I will attempt to answer all these questions in this article.

Why Spirituality?
By moving away from spirituality towards materialism we left something very important in life: Meaning.  We no longer could search for meaning to our life. To understand why we, as souls, have been sent here. And why we must leave this planet, and where do we go afterwards. This is what we lost by going to materialism (M). M sounds great, and full of fun, but in reality it turns us into meaningless objects that for some reason appear and then for another reason disappear. Is this really the reality of the situation? Is this the truth of our life ? Or is this simply how we wanted it to be. We decided that this is the truth and are now trying to live this projection. How has our life gone so far under this framework ? And did we apply this framework simply to get our head space clear of the headaches of religion?  We maybe better off now compared to the dark ages but is this the best we can do for ourselves as humans who find themselves on this planet ? Is searching for Truth still a taboo? Are we afraid to search in case we find that it may lead us back into religion? If this is the case then, in a way, we have confined ourselves within one narrow intellectual area and we may be afraid to move slightly away from it, in case the bad imagery returns to us. So we are stuck in M.

The Alternative to M confinement
Lets assume that within the dark age of religion that there were actually some positive elements within it that can be used today, but without taking the rest of the luggage. Lets assume we can take 'Thought about the Truth' as one element. Lets assume that finding that we may indeed have a Creator is another element. And lets assume that we can approach this creator entity on our own and engage with understanding what it wants from us (if anything), and what plans it has for us (ie after death), as well as asking ourselves why we didn't think of doing this exercise before (assuming the reader hasn't). For shouldn't humans look into the issue of their creator !

So if we do the above , where will it lead us? What if we find it leads us to a situation were we finally understand what the story is and how we are supposed to be with this Entity. And that operating in this way is quite an enjoyable and new modality of life for us, and without the dark patches of religion that were to do with the priests trying to paint a different story to us, one in which they appeared to become richer than the vast majority and with more power. Perhaps for them it was a way to earn a good living rather than to help us understand the truth of our reality. And perhaps they got a way with it for a long time because the majority did not question them. So if we forget about the priests and look at the matter as a personal journey for each human, then one could see how something positive and beneficial can arise.  Key to this is the communication from the Entity itself (in the form of books), and the teachers it has sent , and what they said. From this point onward its up to the individual to choose which communication(s) and teacher(s) to study from. Some may choose the latest, others something else. We can then start our personal journeys into truth, and see what happens to our lives. Where meaning then becomes part and parcel of our search, and we ourselves change into different people. We would get new insight and this could remold our personalities into wiser, more astute, ones. We could start seeing better through the struggles of life. This is the journey that I invite people to. The speed of your progress is in your hands ,and your hands only. And you can let go and go back to your old self any time you want, if you felt this exercise was no good.

What are the benefits of this new pathway?
I think we will become more real. We will be people who are able to ask all the vital questions of life, and death would not become so hard to swallow. We may end up fully understand it instead. Being real will make us more sober and we wont feel the need to escape reality because we cant make any sense of it. Perhaps it will reduce dependence on alcohol and make us into calmer people who have active minds, both curious and thoughtful. At the end its a pathway we can choose to take or not take. Its completely up to the individual.

In my next article I can give you a glance of where this type of personal journey can take people. I will use my personal journey as an example. But I believe each person's journey will be unique to them, because each one of us has their own unique belief set that has formed in their minds over the years, and their journey may revolve around the verification of this pre-adopted belief set. One common theme that many of us may have to deal with, is the issue of our ego, and how much control it will play in allowing us to go on this journey, and to persist on it if the going become difficult. I believe the ego will be there to try to stop us because it tends to be a negative influencer, so spiritual people end up spending a lot of time trying to silence it and to keep their mind open to a new outlook that the ego has been busily trying to cover up. Dissolving away the ego (vanishing it), can bring wonders into our lives I believe.

Hope this was of use.
