What they don't tell us about democracy and what is the way ahead
What they don't tell us about democracy and what is the way ahead.
I only learnt this yesterday after watching a film on Netflix by Prof Noam Chomsky called 'Requiem for the American dream'. It seems that true democracy rarely ever gets implemented because there is a fear by the rich that the poor (who are the majority) will simply legislate to remove their wealth. Because democracy is the rule of the majority. The result is that the rich end up taking positions of unelected power in the so called democracies. Hence you get the house of Senate in the US and the House of Lords in the UK. Both unelected undemocratic bodies needed to keep the interests of the rich in play.
Chomsky identified how Madison, one of the founding fathers of the US constitution deliberately created this Senate house to ensure the interests of the rich get maintained. And this issue was even recognised by the early Greeks who developed democracy. But their way around it was to work on reducing inequality rather than giving the rich more political power because they are rich.
And because the rich in our current fake democracies have more power they end up using this power to influence politics in such a way to become more rich and more powerful. While the average citizen then loses wealth and and power. That's why the system is rigged. It was never meant to be truly democratic. The rich then spend lots of money on the mainstream media to ensure the masses get diverted by mundane issues so they don't have time to figure out what's happening . They also distract them with wars I think too.
I only realised this now. Better late than never :-) .
So now what?
It means that the system is always rigged in favour of the wealthy. And the poor just get used.
So does that mean communism is the answer?
I don't believe so.
So what is the answer then?
I think the key lies in the masses becoming intellectuals and developing their awareness. When the rich see the masses like that they cannot trick them. And some sort of compromise can occur whereby the fault in democracy can be overcome. But if the masses stay ill educated then they will be harmed by their ignorance.
So a good true democracy will have an excellent education system that ensures all citizens come out very politically aware and know what the issues are. They come out awake not asleep. Alert not dazed. And their mainstream media wouldn't be bombarding them with mundanities to divert them and dumb them down. But would make them more alert and more aware. Funding on education would be high and the media would not be about entertainment. It would be about cultivating thinking individuals. People who question things.
Today obviously we are on the opposite end of this almost. And so the elite super rich must be quite joyous. Although at the same there is a significant awakening and I think this awakening will overpower them eventually. A change will then happen. A positive one I believe. History repeats. Evil doesn't triumph forever. Good returns.
But a significant element of this awakening is connection to the superior spirit. i.e. the creator entity. We must become spiritual but not religious. Religion has long been hijacked by the priesthood of most (if not all) religions and used to control people. i.e. corrupted. So there should be no mediator between the person and the Devine. It's a direct and personal relationship only I believe. Priests are only tools used by the ruling elite to control the masses. Tools of exploitation and misguidance they became. Like how the media is the tool of the elite in our age today. So today, in our secular age, the priest has been replaced with the TV ( have a look at the film 'Network' (a 1975 film available on Netflix) to see how powerful a tool it is. Just as good as the priests were I think. TV is the replacement religion one could say.
Why is this spiritual connection important?
Because the Devine entity is the highest power. And we need its support to overcome the ruling elite. Without its help we are less likely to succeed. In fact I believe it is using the corrupt elite to bring us back to it. So that it can help us and guide us to truth and true meaning of our reality. This is my understanding from the Quran. I am a Sufi Muslim (Sufi just means deep thinker much like yogi or guru or Buddha etc. I believe in the oneness of all religions. Before they got hijacked). And obviously the elite don't want us to reconnect with our maker because that is a definite threat to them. Hence they condition us against him/it. Using the exploitation of the priests in the past as a justification against connecting with the creator now. This way we have no back to support us and so they are able to maintain their power over the masses (ie us). This is why the TV and media always mock the creator I believe. They want to distance us from it.
