My story : Summarised

Iraqi guy who went to live in uk

Main trait:

Immatruity, not taught to think for myself

To follow blindly was the way encouraged

    Bad parental guidance

This then led to focussing on worldly things eg career instead of thinking why I am here and what is the point of this life.

This then leads to weak personality - as u are simply trying to compete with others on an obvious and common basis

The ego was also raised due to some good successes. This then leads to not being able to cope well with failure.

Inablity to cope with failure led to huge stress

Huge stress led to bipolar

Bipolar is lots of deperession and then occasional good feeling.

Turning to my creator saved me from suicide

Developing understanding of life helped me to slowly recreate a new self which was curious and thoughtful and eager to seek truth.

Connected eventually with Sufism and meditation to strengthen the weak self that I had.

After years of contemplation and thinking and mediation a new me emerged.

Bipolar had gone some time ago and I was working but with the new me.

My journey in life is now v different

Connected to my Creator (the Divine) v nicely

Postivity is emphasised

Looking forward to departure and being with the Divine in the new life ahead (Heaven), but whilst here doing good and believing.

Alhamdulillah ( thanks be to the good lord)

How to Overcome the illness based on my experience:

English Audience

You may not want to choose Islam and Sufism as your spiritual path (for understandable reasons, eg Islam is being smeared so heavily by the media), so in this case you can choose any other path but what is important is that:

1- You believe that the Creator or Higher power is real, not fiction.

2- He/It is One (It has no gendre as it Created gendre and everything else. So both He and It seem ok to use)

3- Try to understand It's nature eg It has no Creator as It has always been. It never wasn’t. This means It is infinite (no limits) and is free and can choose any personality for itself. But has all the powers and to infinite extent. An amzing entity.  That’s why it is one. It's unique. But think deeper on such issues and try to understand why.

4- Try to find authentic communication from this entity to humans. In my belief only the Quran has been preserved fully intact and in the original language so you may struggle to find a better communication in terms of authentic preservation and genuineness.

5- Try to befriend and be near to good faithful people. These carry the light that will help you and hopefully enter into you.

6- Be patient, persevere and know that this life is a test. So you maybe tested for your patience to see if you really want truth or is it just to cure the illness. You should see the illness as a door to the truth and not the other way round. So try to make seeking Truth an important internal goal for you. And you should want to go wherever Truth takes you. Worship Truth if you like. I think Jesus peace be upon him said, seek the truth and the truth will set you free. So Truth has a power. A big power to relieve you from all problems. Sets you free of them. But it is precious and so you need to work for it as well as be patient while seeking it. You work for it through engaging your mind and try to make sense of things. The mind is a great tool that our good Creator gave us to distinguish truth from falsehood and seek answer for the big questions relevant to our stay here.

7- If you can see yourself as a soul and not a body that will help a lot. The body then becomes like a vehicle that the soul controls and moves about and sees the world through. You can then ask how these souls enter the body near birth and from where they come from and where do they go when they leave the body at death, as well as who takes them. You can then also ask why are they brought here to this planet to live a short span of life. What is the point. Questions that people have been discouraged from asking. Then you can see what the holy books say about this.

Arabic speaking audience:

The same points apply but you will have a different culture from the English speakers but most if not all the points still apply. If you are Muslim by birth then you may not have a problem going to the Quran as your reference.
