Why Religion is Right for You
For many people this statement may be considered so so wrong. Because today religion has become such a backward word, with plenty of extremely negative connotations. So how could religion be right for us? It doesn’t seem right does it.
Well here is my take. What was religion originally? In my view it’s about an entity connecting with us and transmitting messages to us. It would use specially selected people and use them as the explainers of its message. These people are commonly referred to as messengers or prophets or teachers. Spiritual teachers. The essence of the message is about our situation. About how this entity created us, why it created us and why it put us to live finite lives on this planet and where do we go after leaving the planet ( during death ). The answers to the big questions that we stopped asking. As well as what is the best way ( and right way) to live life whilst here. These are the topics it’s messages address. And there are books it sends down to us that explain those messages. So these books contain the answers humanity should be looking for. But today a big junk of humanity seems to have lost interest in these messages and books and have completely ignored them. There is no more belief in them. It’s all been labelled false and fictional. On the other hand you may see certain minorities who appear to hold very strongly to those books and who behave strangely. The world has become weird. What does one do ?
Should we just follow the majority group and hope all will be well or should we start our own investigations and see where this journey leads to ? I believe the latter path is the correct one. Because if there was an afterlife and day of judgement then at least you can say that you tried to find the truth. You then have a good chance to escape any negative consequences.
So if we do start our own journey into truth seeking (aka truthing) then where will it lead us and who can we ask for help during this journey? I suppose many will try speaking with the Creator entity and ask it ( eg oh God if you are there please guide me to truth wherever it may be). And so our lives may continue. The journey may take us to many stations. Each station giving us useful lessons and we may move on along this strange journey. One station to another never knowing what the final destination will be. Perhaps this fills us with a kind of excitement. And perhaps also fear of the unknown. Making the journey even more strange and possibly more exciting. You will be truly alive then because your life is no longer predictable and boring. It can change at any moment. A new thought can come in and change your course completely. So you develop and exercise your thought and thinking all along. You are living your journey of life in full. Your mind can become very mystical and can entertain a wide variety of ideas. Ideas that many people are not accustomed to. But for you you have no problem entertaining them and connecting to them.
This pathway I have described above is what I believe to be the true religion pathway. One where we do our own searching for truth and meaning as opposed to one which isn’t really a journey but just an external imposition of thoughts and ideas by someone close to us. And they may tell us we should abide and believe in them if we want salvation etc. And that we shouldn’t check and verify them but just accept them because that’s what they did. This unfortunately is how religion has been distorted into. A dogmatic imposition of thoughts using fear tactics instead of an open ended journey of search.
So if you accept my definition of original religion ( that being a journey of thought and intellect for truth) then this journey is right for everyone I think. Why , because
1- It’s exciting
2- If it turns there is an afterlife etc you can say that you did try to find the truth about it , and other things.
3- You may actually reach such a destination that you are happy with as being the truth ( as far as you know) and may conform your life to it and be in bliss and happiness.
And this version of original religion is what I recommend to everyone.
Note that each person may reach a different destination , but that is ok I believe , as long as you searched with sincerity. And I believe that this is what the entity wants from us. To use the mind it gave us to search for it as part of the search for truth. As long as we were sincere it will be happy with us I believe. This is where my search has led me to believe. Where will yours lead you?
