Why do some people not like religion?
I think it’s because in religion those who don’t obey, or believe, in god will end up being punished in the afterlife. He gives them a chance to repent and change their mind but if they don’t then they’ll get punished. This upsets them as they don’t like this and so some of them go about trying to exact revenge on God. I think they do this by taking people away from God’s way and making them hate God so as to deprive God the opportunity to guide them to his path. They don’t care about the consequences to those people, they just want to exact revenge.
But God sends people to warn the masses to not disbelieve or disobey Him so that they don’t lose out on an afterlife in heaven. This way God gives them an opportunity to see through the lies and deceptions of the bad people who seek revenge. That’s why it’s important for the believers to clarify such matters to the masses, otherwise they will not be aware. So as believers in the path we should help the masses understand what’s really going on.
God loves those who are good and are obedient to him. He/It (remember he/it has no gender ) created us and so has the right to set the laws. Also obedience to his laws doesn’t mean we suffer. It’s the opposite. We (humanity) benefit from following his path. Because he knows the right path for mankind to live in harmony with creation. Where does the problem lie ? It lies in that some humans have a big ego that prevents them from being humble in-front of their creator. They prefer to see themselves as equals to him. This is not acceptable to the creator and the price of this unjust arrogance is hell punishment.
So this is the root issue I think of why religion has become hated in our age. Lots of lies have been deliberately spread by the egoists to make people hate God and view him/ it in an incorrect way eg like an evil dictator instead of a good and loving being who also has much pride and majesty as it is the creator of all. Nothing created it ( it’s eternal ie no beginning) but it created everything. So it deserves majesty and respect , as well as awe. Because it’s truly an exquisite and amazing entity. There is nothing else like it. 100% uniqueness. And it thus has the right to draw the laws. To write the rules of its dominion, it’s kingdom. And we believe it has chosen goodness and fairness as it’s own pathway in its eternal life & existence. But it will not accept any ego-filled challengers to its authority in the form of creatures that It has created. Hence it expects obedience and submission from all of its creatures.
There is another reason that has made religion look ugly and this is the corruption of many priests. Many used God to make money and earn prestige for themselves instead of being good servants of him. Their punishment will be huge I believe. People then react to such terrible behaviour by rejecting religion and distancing themselves away from it. But they shouldn’t have animosity against God, unless they believed the lies that those priests said eg that God was portrayed as an evil dictator caring only about getting its creatures to obey it. We should know that this isn’t the case.
A third reason why some hate religion is because of the violence that occurs in its name, eg sectarian in-fighting because each sect thinks its superior to the other (Another is cross religion fighting). In my opinion this is pure ignorance-related and probably comes from the preachings of ignorant priests who believe their views must be the only correct ones. Again it links up to corrupt priests because true religion does not teach superiority and ego. It teaches humbleness and charity, not to mention forgiveness. That it’s normal to find differences in humanity. That diversity is the norm and not the exception in nature. Accepting we are different and not trying to impose our opinions is the key here I believe. And believe it or not this is what the Quran teaches but it’s teachings have been deliberately distorted and defaced for political agendas I believe. Politics seems to corrupt everything.
