Is Britain becoming more religious? BBC R4 You and Yours

This is my comment to BBC Radio 4 programme You and Yours regarding religiousness in Britain:

Hi , I was involved in religious outreach at grass root levels in market streets etc and I cannot say i have noticed a great increase in religiousness. So my feeling is maybe that the leveling off that you mention has occurred is because unfortunately the mimimum has been reached. I saw people who were very angry with God and would curse him. However I may be wrong. I can see that living material lives will eventually lead to boredom as there is only so much materialism a human can enjoy consistently. The degree of enjoyment is bound to decline due to repititiveness. There will always be a spiritual element missing and this will increase in importance as the material component subsides.

The main problem with Christianity is that one has to accept it with blind faith. And in a scientific age this is not an acceptable thing. Nor is being associated with the Church something worthy to be happy about due to the long decades of oppression it has brought about in Europe. But it is still part of the British tradition and so there remains some attachment to it.

I think people today are more interested in spirituality than religion. And this is the field i am in. I specialise in Spirituality that is based on logic. ie  using logic to deduce that there must be a superior being or entity that runs everything, but without imposing a religion and scripts that go along with it. This is in my life coaching business that i am due to launch soon, God willing.

Best regards
